317/366 YALLfest Charleston
A friend of mine and the Executive Director of YALLfest, a young adult book festival in Charleston, SC, asked me to fill in for a photographer for the afternoon yesterday. It was a bit of a stretch for me, as I haven't done any official event photography before (just my kids' and their friends' birthday parties and a few events through my kids' school). But I am very happy I made it out. I got to listen to an assortment of intriguing panels, and there was an extra heft to everything after shocking election results this week. I had to peel myself away from the LGBTQIA+ panel, as I could have easily stuck around for the whole thing.
Setting the tone. Right when I got to YALLfest a group of students walked by on the opposite side to the street protesting the election results.
