35/366 Pelicans and kaizen
I have been shooting with a FujiFilm X-E2 (mirrorless interchangeable lens camera) for a little over two years now and have had mostly very positive experience shooting with it. One area where it was very lacking was autofocusing on moving targets -- it wasn't terrible at taking pictures of my kids (maybe about a 30-50% hit rate on focus depending on conditions), but it really wasn't up to the task of autofocusing on flying birds. Well, yesterday they released a new firmware update, and it's like a brand new camera. I went down to Shem Creek today and was able to get a few pictures of flying pelicans (including the one below). The first shot below is not a shot I could have gotten with the prior firmware. I'm excited to spend some more time with the camera and get to know the limits of the new autofocus system.
If you happened past this post, and you own a FujiFilm X-E2 (or have considered picking one up), make sure you check out the version 4.0 firmware upgrade.
